☀️Hello, Summeeeeer!
For me, it's about sunshine and pop music and fun time outdoors and dinner with friends and enjoying the long evening.
Now, I live in tropical Singapore, which means enduring year-round clammy heat and pretty much the same sunset and sunrise times every day. But you get the point!
Summer is also a time routines get messy. We travel, socialise more, stay up later, eat differently.
We're also hit by mid-year fatigue. We might feel frustrated that the year isn't panning out the way we were hoping under the hopeful glow of New Year's Eve.
And here's the thing - it's also the halfway point of the year. So while we're embracing the mess, it's actually perfect timing to pause and ask:
How is it going so far for you? What have you achieved? How are you doing against your January goals? Are there any unexpected wins?
Chances are you've achieved more than you realise. And the good news?
There's 6 months left to the year. That's plenty of time to realign and focus on what actually matters for the rest of 2025.
So in this week's podcast episode of Unwritten Potential, I do something a little different. I’m walking you through an actual coaching-style reflection to help you realign for the season ahead.
Introducing: The Summer Reset!
Today, guide you through an actual coaching-style reflection to help you realign for the season ahead.
The idea is to realign, recalibrate, refocus.
This isn't just me talking at you. It’s designed for you to do with me. Grab a drink, find a quiet spot, or even pop in your earphones for a walk. It’s your own personal coaching session.
And remember, this is a conversation with yourself. Be honest. Be kind. This is a judgment-free zone here!
If the written word is more your jam, keep reading! ⬇️⬇️
☀️ Honest mid-year check-in
Alright. Let’s get real. How’s 2025 going so far?
- What have you actually achieved, even the small stuff no one claps for?
- What didn’t go the way you hoped?
- What surprised you, in a good way?
- What’s been fun? What’s felt heavy?
- What are you sick of pretending you’ll do?
You can jot down some notes, or simply notice what comes up for you.
Be brutally honest here!
☀️ What actually matters to you this summer?
Look, summer is messy. Travel. Late nights. Lazy mornings. Ice cream for dinner. So what actually matters to you over the next 2-3 months?
- If you had to pick three words for your ideal summer vibe, what would they be?
- What do you want to feel more of?
- What do you want to protect, even when life gets messy?
- Spoiler: You can’t do it all. So what’s actually worth your energy?
Maybe choose 2–3 values to guide you next few months, Brene Brown’s list here is a good reference.
(This is something I do with clients all the time. I know it might sound fluffy, but it’s called values clarification, and it’s super powerful for staying grounded in what truly matters to you when life gets messy!)
☀️ Turning reflection into action
This isn’t ‘become a new person’ season, that’s what January is for ;)
It’s ‘try one small thing’ season.
Look back at your answers. What's the one thing that keeps nudging you? The thing that made you think "I really should..." or "I miss when I used to..." Pick that. Do a tiny version of it. This week.
☀️ Permission slip, granted!
Okay. Last bit. And honestly, it can be the hardest part.
What permission do you want to give yourself this summer?
- To rest without earning it
- To say no to plans that drain you
- To change your mind about summer commitments
- To prioritise rest over productivity
Or maybe it’s:
- To wear the short shorts
- To eat the ice cream without feeling guilty
- To be ok with ‘I’ll do this tomorrow’
Write it down, say it out loud. Make it real!!
Final word
If you’re still reading this, look at you!
Having a whole conversation with yourself. That’s more intentional than most people will get this summer.
And remember, this isn’t about a plan you’ll fail. It’s about choosing what you want to care about.
Let’s be accountable to ourselves in the least toxic way possible.
Now go enjoy your summer. Messy, sweaty, glorious. You deserve it.
